Every day we encounter a huge amount of information about medications, dietary supplements, and medical services — online, on social media, in advertising, and even through professional recommendations. But how can we tell reliable information apart from manipulation, commercial pressure, or outright disinformation?
In this lecture, we will discuss how medical advertising works, and why even seemingly convincing messages can mislead people. Using examples from online sources, we will examine common advertising tactics, legal violations, and the ways these methods influence people’s decisions.
Special attention will be given to practical tools that can help you evaluate the reliability of medical information sources.
