Why have certain musical phenomena been regarded as acceptable in some historical periods, while others were seen as dangerous or ideologically alien?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Middle Ages, certain intervals were considered unacceptable from the perspective of harmony and were associated with the devil. In the Soviet Union, avant-garde music was criticized as formalist, anti-people, and ideologically alien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this event, we will discuss how powerful a tool of propaganda music can be, how it has shaped worldviews across centuries, and why propaganda is especially effective where there is a lack of knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecture will be given by Pyotr Sushkov, a graduate of the music department of Viljandi Culture Academy and the Department of Jazz and Improvisational Music at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he earned a master\u2019s degree.
